Inland Chess Academy and the Gary Younker Foundation are co-organizers of this grand event.
Inland Chess Academy is a Washington State nonprofit chess school with the
mission to put chess in every school. Inland Chess trains and certifies chess coaches,
conducts after school and before school chess clubs, tutors students, parents,
and families. Every other Saturday during the school year we run state qualifying
chess tournaments. During holidays, spring break, and summer vacation Inland Chess
offers chess camps and is developing a blended chess and sports camp concept

The Gary Younker Foundation was formed in January, 2002, in honor of
Gary Younker, a long time Spokane chess promoter, who passed away from
cancer in 2001. The purpose of the foundation is to promote chess in the greater
Inland Northwest with special interest in youth chess events. These areas were
Gary’s chess passion and the foundation hopes to carry on his memory by
